A little local love. A practical request.New parent-led initiative · October 2026

ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA

Big love for
this community.

A better way to get there.

Little trips matter. We’re starting a parent-led effort for clearer, more reliable access on 38th Avenue N near Plato Academy St. Petersburg and Cornerstone Community Church, with children, families, staff, church visitors and neighbors in mind.

See what we’re asking for

Independent. Newly started. Open about what we know.

01 / A PRACTICAL FIRST STEP

Less guesswork.
More good mornings.

Ask the responsible public agencies to review access and traffic operations on 38th Avenue N near the campus, then tell us what’s feasible and what comes next.

A parent has reported confusing eastbound left-turn access and school-period queues affecting nearby business entrances. These concerns deserve a careful field review. They are not yet measured engineering findings.

Small request. Real homework.

What we’re asking agencies to evaluate

Study options, not approved designs
01

Make the intended access clear

Verify the authorized entrance, driveway approvals and current signs and markings. Resolve any inconsistency through the responsible agency.

02

Test a dedicated left-turn pocket

Evaluate an eastbound turn pocket and a clearly defined, approved opening, using measured widths, sight lines, turning demand and queue storage.

03

Look at the whole street

Compare access alternatives, including any restriction, and their effects on detours, U-turns and queues. Protect walking and cycling access, emergency access and business entrances.

04

Give the community a next step

Identify the responsible office, the information still needed and a written feasibility finding. Any design or traffic change needs agency review and approval.

A turn pocket may or may not fit. An opening alone does not provide queue storage. No lane reduction, widening, new signal, access restriction or school-operation change is assumed.

02 / THE COMMUNITY BEHIND THE COMMUTE

A lot to care about.
A few things to be proud of.

This effort starts with a parent’s affection for a school community and concern for everyone using this stretch of road. Cornerstone Community Church is also part of this local setting. Better access should consider its visitors, nearby businesses and neighbors too.

03 / STARTING SMALL, STAYING HONEST

No victory lap.
Just the next good step.

This is a new effort. Here’s the record so far, with the questions still open.

A NOTE FROM JULES
Our fictional neighborhood optimist

“The feathers are dramatic.
The request is reasonable.”

Inspired by the peacocks of nearby Jungle Prada, Jules has a composed manner, a magnificent fan and a particular interest in safe, workable eastbound left-turn access on 38th Avenue N.

04 / FAIR QUESTIONS

Heart first.
Facts close behind.

Good intentions are a beginning.
Clear answers are the work.

Is this an official school or church campaign?

No. This is an independent parent-led initiative started by John Small. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Plato Academy, Cornerstone Community Church or a public agency. School and church sources are cited for factual context, not endorsement.

Are you asking drivers to turn differently?

No. This page gives no driving instructions and does not change access rules. Follow the current lawful signs and markings. Agencies need to verify the authorized entrance and evaluate any change.

What still needs to be verified?

The authorized entry, road jurisdiction, driveway approvals, current control plan, usable pavement and right-of-way widths, turning demand, sight distance, queue patterns and complete crash history all require agency confirmation.

Some official records list 6745 rather than 6725 38th Avenue N. The current campus page and district directory support 6725. Cornerstone Community Church’s official contact page lists 6745 38th Avenue N. The agency should match all relevant records to the specific driveway; these addresses are context, not a campaign office.

How would we know an improvement helped?

Agree on a baseline and measures with the agency: queue length, blockage of nearby entrances and sidewalks, turning delay and observed conflicts. Recheck under comparable conditions. A short before-and-after snapshot cannot establish a crash reduction.

Is this collecting supporters or donations?

No. This website has no signup, petition, donation or contact form, and no campaign analytics or tracking pixels. No supporter count or outside endorsement is claimed.
